“Why does this POS still have a title?”
Wondered the same thing myself. Could be the writer’s using the title that Ft Leavenworth’s official announcement didn’t? Maybe a military-experienced FReeper can answer. It may have to do with the military maintaining its authority over him? i.e., if he were discharged even dishonorably, would the military have authority to carry out the sentence? I did read that 2 weeks after the sentencing his paychecks stop.
“He will not be executed. The sentence will never be carried out. “
Maybe in a perverse way that will actually be “better justice.” This piece of slime wants to die as a “martyr.” Keeping him in prison for the rest of his miserable live will hopefully cause him more pain than just being put to death. I just wish that prison life were harsher, particularly in his case.
That would be Hasan K. Akbar, convicted in 2005.
Nidal Hasan joins Akbar and four others:

Military justice grinds along as slowly as civilian justice. The last military execution was in 1961, when they strung up Pvt. John A. Bennett for raping and attempting to kill an 11-year-old Austrian girl.

I agree. He’s in a wheelchair. They will say it would be cruel & unusual, etc. I feel sorry for the person who has to wipe his backside. What a waste of taxpayers money.
The last military execution was in 1961 four years after President Eisenhower signed the
execution order. There are now six inmates on death row with non scheduled for execution.
Shouldn’t that read Private (E-1) Nidal Hasan? Reduction in rank to the lowest enlisted grade, forfeiture of all pay and allowances?
and, yes, bread and water sounds like a good thing. Bacon grease spread on the bread.

Who gets the job of wiping his crippled butt?
May he quickly move on to “Death’s Door,” and then out it to his final judgment.
“..........The appeals process often takes years if not decades.
The military hasnt executed an active duty U.S. soldier since 1961.”
Years I can wait out.....decades not so much
Obama’s hero.
That is affirmative, the prisoners remain members of the military with essentially no rank. The previous newest member of Fort Leavenworth's Death Row, Master Sgt. Timothy Hennis had officially retired in 2004. The US Army recalled him to active service (with rank and pay) in 2006 to court martial him, strip him of said rank and pay to put him where he is now.
As for Hasan's pay, it stopped the moment the verdict was decided. It is just that the military operates on earned pay, so he gets paid for that earning period prior to the verdict.
He doesn’t. He lost his rank and salary when he was convicted.
It will be interesting how much special treatment, special meals, etc., Obama’s hero gets now that he’s convicted.
Good!! Now, shoot him....!!
I believe the POS has been dismissed from the Army. This means his commission has been pulled and he is now just Mr. Hasan. Also all pay and benefits forfeited.
Renovate the gallows so they are ADA compliant.
There’s not enough TP in the world to clean up that mess.
