Sarah Palin Weighs in on Syria: ‘Let Allah Sort It Out’
Mediaite ^ | August 30, 2013 | Josh Feldman

Posted on 08/30/2013 8:59:55 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Sarah Palin jumped into the political fray over Syrian military intervention with a blistering Facebook post opposing any military action. Palin argues that while Americans are sympathetic to the plight of those suffering under Bashar al-Assad, there’s too much uncertainty about what the outcome could be and many of the rebels are al Qaeda-affiliated, so as far as she’s concerned, “let Allah sort it out.”

Palin mockingly refers to Obama as “our Nobel Peace Prize winning President,” hitting him for lacking a clear and decisive plan, as well as potentially going around Congress to take unilateral action. She questions the logic of getting involved in Syria now, only after chemical weapons were used, when thousands and thousands of Syrians were being killed well before Assad crossed the red line.

We didn’t intervene when over 100,000 Syrians were tragically slaughtered by various means, but we’ll now intervene to avenge the tragic deaths of over 1,000 Syrians killed by chemical weapons, though according to the White House we’re not actually planning to take out the chemical weapons because doing so would require “too much of a commitment.”

She also spoke to public opinion on Syrian intervention, telling Obama he needs to go with the will of the people on this one.

There’s no explanation of what vital American interests are at stake there today amidst yet another centuries-old internal struggle between violent radical Islamists and a murderous dictatorial regime, and we have no business getting involved anywhere without one. And where’s the legal consent of the people’s representatives? Our allies in Britain have already spoken. They just said no. The American people overwhelmingly agree, and the wisdom of the people must be heeded.

She accuses the president of only considering military strikes to save “political face” over his red line threat, concluding that we are still “dangerously uncertain of the outcome” and the U.S. needs to stay out of it.

I didn’t say we were - I was just wondering how Sarah would like to see Allah sort them - by age or by height? But as far as that “world’s policeman” thing goes, I’d much rather be a cop than a victim. In fact, when I look around the world and start assigning roles, I’m not unhappy to be judge and jury as well. No nation in the history of civilization has acted more aggressively as an advocate for people subjugated by despots and tyrants, and I don’t think there’s any reason to stop now. What do you think Europe would have looked like without the Marshall Plan? Who do you think would have turned the Japanese into vassals if not for the US? Sure we’ve been a bit late to the party sometimes or a little ham-fisted, but Americans fundamentally believe that getting the boot of oppression off the necks of a bunch a desperate people is the right thing to do.

I’m still waiting for the Media to ask the question “where did Assad get Chemical Weapons?”, or as they were known during the Bush Administration, WMD’s.

Of course we know where they came from.

How was the Marshall Plan (or Russian/European relief 20 years earlier) being a policeman? And remind me how that “boot of oppression” thing worked in Iraq, Afghanistan, Cuba, Vietnam, Nicaragua, Egypt, Libya, Somalia, Haiti, with the Kurds and etc.??

Unlike many here, I will not “hush my mouth” when some stranger claims his/her son or daughter is a combat veteran.

As if that granted “you” some kind of extra-special understanding of war.
You don’t have a clue about what it means to wage war.

If you did, you wouldn’t have posted the tripe you did.

You don’t think there were strings attached to all that foreign aid? Your list is impressive, but as I pointed out, there have been times when out reach has exceeded our grasp. That said, would you like me to list the nations that owe their very existence to US intervention or benevolence? Shall we being by naming virtually every nation in Western Europe?

Yeah, and they damned sure love us for it, don’t they? Me and the missus were planning on going to one of those huge “American Appreciation Festivals” but we can’t make up our minds whether to head to Paris, London, Berlin or Oslo first.

I don’t know, I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Europe and have never felt less than welcome. Then again, and unlike some, I don’t expect people to kiss my ass just because I’m an American.

The only response I MIGHT buy into is a Tomahawk missle inserted into Assads bedroom window at supersonic speed.

That sends a pretty clear message.

Yep! Spoken like a true cut and run politician. Gov Honey Boo-Boo won’t dare speak against her puppet master McCain who whole-heartedly advocates intervention. Cowardly appeasers like Palin would have won the war for Hitler. Thank God this half termer will never sniff the Oval Office.
