Sarah Palin jumped into the political fray over Syrian military intervention with a blistering Facebook post opposing any military action. Palin argues that while Americans are sympathetic to the plight of those suffering under Bashar al-Assad, there’s too much uncertainty about what the outcome could be and many of the rebels are al Qaeda-affiliated, so as far as she’s concerned, “let Allah sort it out.”
Palin mockingly refers to Obama as “our Nobel Peace Prize winning President,” hitting him for lacking a clear and decisive plan, as well as potentially going around Congress to take unilateral action. She questions the logic of getting involved in Syria now, only after chemical weapons were used, when thousands and thousands of Syrians were being killed well before Assad crossed the red line.
We didn’t intervene when over 100,000 Syrians were tragically slaughtered by various means, but we’ll now intervene to avenge the tragic deaths of over 1,000 Syrians killed by chemical weapons, though according to the White House we’re not actually planning to take out the chemical weapons because doing so would require “too much of a commitment.”
She also spoke to public opinion on Syrian intervention, telling Obama he needs to go with the will of the people on this one.
There’s no explanation of what vital American interests are at stake there today amidst yet another centuries-old internal struggle between violent radical Islamists and a murderous dictatorial regime, and we have no business getting involved anywhere without one. And where’s the legal consent of the people’s representatives? Our allies in Britain have already spoken. They just said no. The American people overwhelmingly agree, and the wisdom of the people must be heeded.
She accuses the president of only considering military strikes to save “political face” over his red line threat, concluding that we are still “dangerously uncertain of the outcome” and the U.S. needs to stay out of it.

Statements like this make me believe Gov. Palin has decided to pursue a career as a commentator rather than an elected official. I think our federal government could use more people like Sarah, but after the venom she experienced in 2008, I couldn’t blame her for pursuing a different route.
They burned down her church with women and children still in it! They attacked her special needs infant son and her daughters. She was getting death threats like Zimmerman for years. I’ve been a bodyguard and security person. Know how expensive 24/7 coverage is?
If we USA citizens, as a society, are unwilling to kill them all, and let God sort it out...then we must have a vote before we allow our current government to war against other nations who have not yet attacked us.
Our own government will not want us to do so, since they are busily attacking us internally.

Since my Special Forces son recently returned safely from his 2nd tour in Afghanistan, I have no desire to see him sent back to the Middle East. However, the best argument I have heard is that since Obama said that poison gas was a line in the sand they should not cross, this raises a serious question. There had been several small attacks. This major attack which is now reported to have killed 1400 people and over 400 children is a real middle finger. If our government does not respond, then how seriously will Iran or North Korea take our threats to act if they step out of line? Just asking. I want to see what results the investigating group reports when they get out of Syria before forming a final opinion.
That's not the only two choices. She could, and I think will be, very active and influential in politics, whether it's the GOP or a future, new party. But yes, you are right in that she has burnt her bridges as far as running for office goes.

I’m very glad your son made it home safely and please thank him for his service and thank you for supporting him. While perhaps 1400 civilians were killed by gas, without any threat to the US or its interests other than propping up Obama’s program of putting radical Muslims in charge of governments, this civil war is not worth the life of one American. If Iran and North Korea threaten the US or its interests then we should destroy them, not try to win hearts and minds. That is how we won WWII and that is how the Union beat the Confederacy. After we win and there is no question of victory then we can consider hearts and minds. But no American blood or treasure should be spent on anything not in American interests and putting radical Muslims in charge of a government is definitely NOT in our interests.
