I believe gas masks only have a certain shelf life and then you must replace them. Anyone out there know about this?
Not the mask themselves. The filters have an expiration date
Likewise. First thing I thought. You’d think after Saddam was launching SCUDs at them a decade ago, everyone would have one.
Gas masks won’t do them any good if chemical weapons are lauched. They’d all need chemical suits, which must be dicarded every eight hours.

Thanks, I thought so. But isn’t it true they have to be tight fitted? So as a child grows, a new mask would become necessary?
Depends on the chemical weapon, but you’re right, for most of the ones thought to be involved in Syria, you’d want a full MOPP suit, or similar.
that seems odd. pretty sure there’s no shelf life, tho maybe on the filters depending on how they’re made. ofc, I’d expect the filters to be sealed if they ever ‘went bad’ (it’s been years since I’ve seen one, and I don’t remember them having anything that would ‘go bad’)
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
