SOUTHFIELD (WWJ/AP) - A local McDonalds restaurant was forced to close after its employees walked out and hundreds gathered outside to protest for higher wages.
The restaurant on 8 Mile and Lahser roads along the Detroit/Southfield city line was just one location locally where fast food workers are participating in a nationwide walkout for better wages.
Over 200 protestors crowded the restaurant, carrying signs that read We are worth more. Strike for 15, as in $15 an hour...

Once upon a time it was an Industrial/Manufacturing Economy... and the unions (admittedly with management help) closed the steel mills.
The Industrial/Manufacturing Economy was replaced with a “Services Based” Economy... and here, again... Labor is destroying that.
Back in 2001, the day before the twin towers came down before my eyes, my Sociology professor at Rutgers Newark made the now creepy premonition that the next economy will be “Security-Based”...
And there ya are.
What comes next? Complete economic colapse and a return to an Agrarian Economy? I am waiting for rapture, myself.
Here’s another ‘Detroit’ story you might enjoy... it’s freakin’ unbelievable...
We can all be thankful that thousands of folks will eat healthier while all these McDonald’s are closed.
Yes indeed
Chik a fila is awesome. My pet cow thinks so too...
Better yet, go to a local Church supper. Around here, it’s $8, including seconds, dessert, and beverage.
Can’t be beat for quality and quantity.
Instead of bags of ice, I just take some water bottles and stick them in the freezer. They keep everything cold, and then we drink them when they melt.
We still have private property
No we dont. The killing of private property was completed with Kilo and the smoking bans. Heck, many a FReeper celebrated......
I stand corrected, CSM. I should have written:
"We still have private property on paper, but government manages each and every least, last aspect of it for its own benefit."
Nice correction and let me also clarify that I didn’t intend for that to seem like an attack on you. I intended it as a reminder.....
So, work 8 hours and get paid 3.6 cents?
How old are you?
Most of the time, Dad drove. We had six kids, two of whom took turns in the front. Four in the back with Mom (or sleeping Dad). We lived out of the ice chest. The top surface was handy for Mom to make the sandwiches which she passed around while we flew down the road. We always had frozen jugs when the trip started and when we were ready to drive back. In between, the water got drunk and the rest of the chest needed to be replenished with purchased ice. We thought that was the way everybody traveled when we were kids. As a result of Dad and Mom's diligence, we ended up getting better acquainted with our granparents than some of the cousins who lived close, visited more often but for much shorter times.
Tried it a couple of times on my own kids. They were OK with it one way, but usually wanted Arby's, Wendy's or whatever on the way back.
although i agree with your premise, there is one item i need to point out..
mitt romney was and is a socialist, jut check his record..
my guess is you are a republican and not a conservative..

I couldn't resist.
It smelled and my phone was too close to my computer.
Best post I've seen in a while.
You would prefer .45 dollars? I worked for agricultural wages. There was no minimum in that field. When people were earning 45 cents I was getting 25 cents.
***How old are you? ***
Old enough to be on Social security and hoping you are working your a$$ off paying for it! The government says,”YOU OWE ME! So pay up!
I just got a Jimmy Johns menu here, in Grand Rapids;
and their subs are$5.49. Okay,Then, let’s throw in a jumbo Kosher dill pickle for $1.19. Sounds like a done deal to me.
:)

I think that is what you meant. 45 cents. 0.45 dollars. Not .45 cents, as you wrote.
