The fact remains that Limbaugh has had the bully pulpit for over 20 years, millions of listeners, and gazillion advertisers. And yet, nothing substantive has come of that.

And where were we, exactly, in 1989?

After eight years of Reagan, we were back to the quintessential RINO in GHWB and subdued minorities led by the feckless Dole and Michel.

The truth is that Limbaugh has been instrumental in changing the Republican party's base -- giving us the courage of our conservative ways. We've owned the House for 15 of his last 20 years. Would there have been a Republican Revolution in 1994 without him? Would the Tea Party have enjoyed such great success in 2010 without him?

Unfortunately, though, he's had little impact on the Republican party's leadership. Fecklessness still rules the day.

Should we blame Limbaugh for that? Or the GOP-e?

Considering Limbaugh says very little in the way of criticism of the GOPe, and even berates the base to ‘understand’ their temerity I’d say he’s just as guilty.
