We have the very same problem here in South Carolina. I just tell them “don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out!”

And this is why property taxes should be abolished. No one should lose their home to the government.
Absolutely agree. Property taxes should not reassessed until the property is sold. Any assessment until the property is actually sold is purely speculation. How can they say these houses are worth $1 million + when they aren't selling at that price?

One has to wonder where does all the money go? Each county is responsible for its welfare, not the state. Schools are locally funded too (they generally eat up about 50% of a combined RE Tax Bill). Rood tolls everywhere too. So, aside from keeping Christie in doughnuts, where does the rest go?? My bet? Government pensions.

Yes I do.
There is not enough money in the world for socialism to work.
Of course that will not stop the Democrats and Republicans from trying, even if it takes the last dollar productive citizens have. I do not believe we will reach that point. The future is not a straight line, a black swan will appear and the world as we know it will change, once again.
I know it will change, I just do not know if it will be a good or bad change.

School taxes today are a rip off...I get tired of people complaining about paying for my medicare and I remind them that at 74 why should I have to pay for their kids education. Usually shuts them up...Have grandkids that have graduated college and I am paying for someone else’s schooling...when my kids were in school, the taxes were no where near the cost they are now and schools are always pushing for more taxes...greedy gus runs the education and they only work less than 200 days a year...

In my county, homeowners over the age of 65 are exempt from school taxes (county).
I have to pay, though, and the only time any of my children has been inside a public school is to take the SAT.

(There should be a whole lot more going on than throwing bleach, said one woman.)

I have never heard of anyone being exempt from school taxes. Sounds like a great idea. My daughter, like you sent her kids to private schools and had high school taxes on top....for some private schools, they pay less per student than the failing schools in the cities. The whole world is nuts....I say that we are the insane asylum of the universe and those UFO’s are just aliens dropping off another group of nuts from their world....:O) these aliens are immediately put to work in the government....
