Putin acts in support of Egyptian military
Debka ^ | Aug 3, 2013 | DebkaFile Exclusive

Russian President Vladimir Putin called an extraordinary session at the Kremlin Saturday to "discuss the situation in Egypt and take the necessary steps to the put Russian military facilities at the Egyptian military's disposal," said an announcement in Moscow, without elaborating. Putin said further that "Russia will arrange for joint military exercises with the Egyptian army." DEBKAfile: Moscow's steps directly conflict with Western condemnation of the Egyptian military's crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood. They were taken shortly after President Barack Obama cancelled a joint military exercise with Egypt as a mark of US disapproval.

A longer, more detailed article discusses Putin's support for the Egyptian military, against the Muslim Brotherhood.

Apparently Putin was planning to go to Egypt, but obviously as a result of the severe unrest he didn't.

But a couple of good excerpts from the article I linked:

"For Putin, this will be his second trip to Cairo; his first took place in 2005 when Hosni Mubarak was president. He will play it to the hilt as a platform to show the world, and especially Arab Muslims, that he alone of the world's five leading powers is openly committed to fighting radical Islam and ready to assist any Arab leader sharing this commitment.

Putin hopes to come away from Cairo as champion of the war on radical Islam in two important Arab countries and the most reliable ally of forces for moderation."

One does need to pick sides and when one side is radical Islam, whatever the other side may be, it's the better one.

In the meantime:

“..attempts by Hagel and Ashton to twist the Egyptian general’s arm into releasing Morsi from detention and re-integrating the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt’s national politics.

Hagel specifically pressed him to bring Muslim Brotherhood members into the interim government and give them free rein to run candidates for parliament in early 2014.”

Yet, Russia is in bed with Iran.

That's a tough dichotomy to explain.

There is much about Putin that I do not like, but he is a brilliant tactician and has been playing us like fools for years.

Debka is in Israel, I understand it is run by people who are actually very much in the know. They are most certainly pro-Israel, but as far as news stories, they are way ahead of the MSM. Just because the MSM doesn’t pick up and never mentions many of the news stories Debka publishes, some people don’t believe Debka, but they do believe the MSM. Go, figure...

Russia only cares about and is looking out for their own interests, which is actually a sensible, pragmatic attitude When you look at it from that angle, their actions make a lot more sense.

They are using Iran against us — not to mention the oil Iran controls. But Russia is definitely against Muslim terrorists taking over the world.

Thanks - I see people say “Debka” as though that means it’s untrue, but your explanation makes sense. For sure the MSM is pure propaganda crap.

That's pretty much how I see Putin as well....He's in the game and playing for keeps...and that with a plan in mind one can follow if you watch his moves close enough.

This one Putins played with Egypt was simply waiting til OBOZO showed his hand...and like a fool he did and Putin trumped him like a snake in the grass.

Also interesting is how the Arabian King/nation has stepped up to the plate in support of the Egyptian Military....very interesting political maneuvers happening.

US: BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWW! Your not being a Democracy, what about the freedom to assemble, Tom Paine's, rights and liberties, the Founding Fathers???!!!

Egypt: Grow up, stop being a baby, see the world as it is in this region and help us fight YOUR enemy too! We are not, follower of...uh, what is his name? Dom Bane? We do not know this man or his works.

US: You are not being guided by the Founding Fathers and the Enlightenment!

Egypt: Founding...? Light? What?

US: We're going to cut off our aid.

Egypt: Oh, Putin?

Wouldn't it be a kick in the a$$ if Putin winds up saving the world from OBummer's plans.

I don't discount that idea totally, considering the POS we have in the White Hut.

Hopefully all our former allies cut us off and head to Russia. Then Americans will be forced into drilling our own resources, building our own products with them and we won’r be sending out military off on social experiments.

I’m done with the world cop thing.

Eortress America 2016.

And that got much easier for him in 2009.

Considering Vlad’s opponent has now lost Egypt TWICE, I’d say that’s a pretty safe assessment.

Especially considering that Russia might have an Agent in our White House whose mother and father met in Russian language class in the '60's. By the way, where is Snowden? Ohhhh that's right!.. Russia! "Flexibility", thanks to 0bama!

I never understood why so many US Conservatives hate Putin. Putin is a patriot. He act in his country’s self interest all the time and he’s not a radical leftist
