Republican establishment strategist Mike Murphy, who is close to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and Mitt Romney and favors candidates like them, slammed Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), saying he would be a disaster in a general election like George McGovern was for Democrats in 1972.
Murphy told National Review that though Cruz may win the nomination if he chooses to run because he appeals so strongly to conservatives, but he would not win a general election. In Murphy's eyes, conservatives that support Cruz are not "regular Republicans" like McCain and Romney, both of whom lost general elections.
[Snip]
During the 2012 election cycle, Murphy went out of his way to label conservative candidates who threatened Romney as the Republican versions of McGovern, doing so on programs like NBC's Meet The Press.

It also means that there is a very good chance that the object of their ire has a decent chance of cobbling together enough real Americans to actually win.

Why the hell is Mike Murphy not fired? And why is anyone other than Dummycrats listening to him? He should be working for the Democrats since he lost both 2008 and 2012 for the stupid party twice!!!! He is screwing this country royally. FIRE HIM!

This is the ideal example of a point I make often. Even if we elect good conservatives, this guy times 2000 are still there in the workings of the party to screw them over.

True. But McCain was dumb enough to take on Romney’s handlers and to keep on going with them, even when their advice was clearly more and more destructive.
I read Sarah Palin’s first book, before it was entirely obvious what was going on, and McCain’s willingness to take advice from some mysterious source coming from above, even though he was supposedly in charge, was pathetic. Especially since it clearly was destructive to his own interests.
Palin could see that things were not right, but was unable to get through to McCain.
McCain is a perfect stooge for such manipulation.

To air conditioners and one fan running WFO from June till October...and it’s a balmy 86 indoors ;)
But running around in shorts in February makes up for it while most freeze...sorta...

Identify, lock-in and then crucify them a la Mark Levin. Passion, truth and confidence go a long way. Right now there are only three critters who exhibit those traits, Cruz, Paul and Gowdy. It's such a shame the US is suffering from such a lack of good, honest leadership.

Same here. The insanity (doing the same thing, over and over, with the SAME results) has to stop.

Thats the thing. Out of that whole mess there is a literal ‘count’em on on hand sized group worth a sxit. And people want to save that? They think it can be fixed?
Cruz and the rest will either have to leave or be neutralized by the rest. I do not see another outcome now that they rigged the primary rules.

McCain and Romney together gave us eight years under the most evil man ever to set foot in our White House. How could a real conservative possibly be worse?

Anyone who can cause Sen. Fineswine to sputter that she's "not a 6th grader" is my kind of conservative leader.
Go Cruz!

Yup. I am seriously looking into emigrating. Did you know that you have to pay off the New Zealand and Australian government to get in as a retiree?
