Excellent comment.
My only criticism — ordering residents to go get jobs will only work when the job market has need for employees, and that is when the economy begins to expand. Right now the markets are tanking and there are no jobs available. So how can you order someone to get something that doesn’t readily exist?
Providing depression era-style make work will only go so far, as someone must provide the money to pay for the make-work. Socialism is the problem here, and we shouldn’t acerbate this problem further.
Granted, there are things that can be done immediately to relieve stresses on the system: send illegal aliens home, like President Eisenhower did in the 1950s, freeing up jobs and opportunities for our citizens, for one.
In the small city in which I live, the EBT users make up 50% of the city population. FIFTY PERCENT! When the economy does collapse, this place will be in chaos. Even now there are thefts from community garden plots.
