Recovery Autumn!
Keep in mind, Wal Mart is also the largest retailer of food.

A few years ago, during the start of the recession, Walmart was poised to increase sales because middle class shoppers were switching from higher end retailers to Walmart. Now, even Walmart is expensive for the middle class.
I go to dollar stores in and out fast
If you are a smart shopper Walmart is NOT the place to shop and people are starting to catch on .
You can do much better by shopping sales at most grocery stores and plan your meals according to seasonal sales rather than shopping Walmart for their everyday low prices and not have to put with Walmarts terrible service and obnoxious cashiers .
(especially true if you live in a small town since Walmart charges MUCH higher prices in their small town locations than they do in bigger cities)
A huge problem is that the continuing instability of the world economy—breathlessly reported by the mass media around the world—is literally scaring people into closing their pocketbooks. As such, this affecting Walmart sales does not surprise me.
Erin Burnett asked a guest today why is it the numbers show the economy improving but companies like Walmart reporting lower income. I think the answer is simple. Walmart doesn’t fudge the numbers.

Walmart has become lazy. Back in the day they were almost never out of stock....these days they are missing items for weeks on end.
I go for the friendly sales people and ambience.
Our Walmart has started to carry more organic and non-gmo type items. Since we mainly eat whole foods, I can now get quality ingredients for my family at a much cheaper price than Kroger, Trader Joe’s, or Whole Foods. We still mainly live off of our back yard, but we do have to supplement. I am considering, however, planting wheat next year. We’ll see about that.
I went to Walmart today and it was crowded as usual.
Three weeks ago I was in Sheridan WY at 7 PM and went to the Walmart there. It was empty except for the staff and a couple of other shoppers.’
I asked a clerk where everyone was. He said it was usually this way about this time of day and week day.
A few days later I went to the Walmart store in Farmington NM and it was crowded as it is here.
Yesterday was the first time I’d been in Wal-mart in at least six weeks, that’s the norm. We used to go every week and seldom spent less than $80 on everything from groceries to dog food. Now I seldom spend up to $50 in that six week stretch.
We don’t shop much any more.
I’m seeing a lot of Walmart hate on this thread. Did I miss something? Are people being forced to shop there? I have a multitude of store choices and don’t need to bag on the ones I don’t frequent. It’s called Capitalism.
I went into Walmart and the prices were not cheaper, especially groceries. Even if the prices were lower the horrible service keeps me away from the place. The service used to be great but that’s long gone.
Freepers are harping on the fact that Walmart is no cheaper than their local grocery stores. And that’s probably true to a large extent now, but only BECAUSE Walmart forced the grocery stores to compete with Walmart’s pricing in order to stay in business.
When Walmart first moved to our community, they were WAY cheaper than the local grocery stores. As a result, the local grocery stores looked emptier than desert islands for quite a number of years until they finally wised up and lowered their prices. When they did that, people started flocking back in droves, myself included, as I find myself shopping for groceries less and less at Walmart.
But our local Walmarts still have better pricing in many departments, including the automotive department which beats the tar out of Autozone, for example. Also, our local Walmart pharmacy is WAY better in terms of customer service compared to ALL or our local Walgreen’s pharmacies, whose motto I’ve finally decided must be, “If we can fuch it up, we will.”
I was in a Wal-Mart yesterday. Ahead of me in the checkout lane was a guy wearing a shirt from a major supermarket chain.
He was shopping at Wal-Mart instead of the store he worked in.
I am boycotting them and have canceled my membership at Sam's Club.
especially when stuff and junk is cheaper elsewhere.
