CNN did its own research ... this from today’s RCP:
CNN’s Athena Jones investigates if Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is eligible to run for president. CNN says the “natural-born citizen” question is dogging Cruz. For the record, CNN said every constitutional law expert they interviewed for said Cruz is a natural-born citizen and eligible to be president.
Sounds to me like he’s eligible.
“For the record, CNN said every constitutional law expert they interviewed for said Cruz is a natural-born citizen and eligible to be president.”
That’ll reverse once he announces a run.
Oh, but they didn’t ask the Freeper experts...
If Ted Cruz’s dad did not become a U.S. citizen until after Ted was born, Ted Cruz would not be a natural born citizen.
I’ve supported Ted Cruz and he has exceeded my expectations in his short time up in the Senate, but....but....if he was not born of two U.S. citizen parents, he does not fall into the constitutional criteria to become POTUS.
The constitution is more important than any single person whether on our side or the liberal pukes.
Cruz isn’t eligible and neither is Rubio or Jindal but at this point it looks like after 8 years of another total non eligible president I’m not going to worry about Cruz. He would be an excellent president and he actually loves his country and is a patriot.
CNN should do the same research regarding Rubio’s eligibility. ....He’s not eligible, because both parents were citizens of Cuba when he was born.
It is impossib;e for Ted Cruz to be a natural born citizen, because he was born in Canada with a claim to Canadian citizenship and his father was a Cuban citizen right up to 2005. Consequently, Ted Cruz was born with a claim to three citizenships, only one of which was the adoption of the place of his mother’s citizenship. A natural born citizen cannot adopt a citizenship, because a natural born citizenship is is the one and only citizenship available to the child at birth. If Ted Cruz had been born in the United States with parents who were both U.S. citizens, no other sovereign state could claim him as a citizen, and he could claim no foreign citizenship without adopting the citizenship by using a lawful act of man. A natural born citizenship exists by the inherent Nature of there being only one possible citizenship arising from the nature of the birth being within the one sovereign society from which the birth originated. The claims of others like CNN that you can be a natural born citizen even though you were born with citizenship in more than one sovereign state is simply ludicrous and blatantly wrong.
I wonder if CNN put 1/2 this much time in determining if Obama was a Natural Born Citizen on their own initiative.
Cruz himself wouldn’t put himself out there if he wasn’t eligible. The man is a gifted Constitutional scholar and he wouldn’t flush his reputation down the toilet by trying to pull a Hussein.
I don’t believe a person who was born in a foreign country, i.e. Canada, from a non citizen Cuban father at the time, especially a father who had some kind of association with Castro, could be a ‘natural born’ USA citizen even though the mother apparently kept her USA citizenship. Surely the father weighs in as much as the mother. Indeed, It can be argued that it is then OK to accept two young Muslim men who were born of a USA resident Muslim family, i.e. Morsi, on the basis of credentials if the Constitution is to be twisted.
