Sorry, as exciting as Ted Cruz is for actually having a stiff conservative spine, being born in Canada to only one USA citizen parent, one thing he is not is a natural born Citizen (not that following basic Constitutional law seems to matter to anyone anymore these days), so he can't possibly run for president as a Constitutional conservative. As much as I like his politics in general, if he tries to run for president, not only will he never get my vote, but I will do my level best to see that everyone I know fully understands that he is completely ineligible.

Now, Sarah Palin - I'd vote for her in a heartthrob. :-)

Believe me, if Ted runs in the next presidential election the Marxist/Communist/Democrat party will gnash their teeth and pull their hair and SCREAM out that his is not a natural born citizen.

See, the problem is that Ted has already screwed up by not hiding and locking up ALL historical traces of his past history like Obama.

He will get my vote and I will do MY level best to make sure everyone knows he is eligible.

Federal law says that people born outside the U.S. to a parent or parents who are citizens and who have lived in the country are considered citizens at birth.
Cruz is eligible. His mother is American, his father became an American citizen before Cruz was born. Cruz has lived in the US since he was 4 yrs old and would bet any court would give him the well deserved green light to run.

I think he is a natural born citizen. He is because the law says he is. He is because the Constitution gives Congress the authority to make all necessary law in that area. As you can see from the following US Code, Cruz was automatically a US citizen at birth, that is, a natural born citizen under the law. As this article says, every constitutional scholar consulted says he is.

So, the confusion appears to be that most folks don’t consider the last line in Article 1, Section 8. “To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof. “

Sec. 320. [8 U.S.C. 1431] (a) A child born outside of the United States automatically becomes a citizen of the United States when all of the following conditions have been fulfilled:

(1) At least one parent of the child is a citizen of the United States, whether by birth or naturalization.

(2) The child is under the age of eighteen years.

(3) The child is residing in the United States in the legal and physical custody of the citizen parent pursuant to a lawful admission for permanent residence.

Well if he was not a citizen at birth then his mother would have had to apply for citizenship for him. Anyone who has to apply for citizenship would not be ‘natural born.’
But if not then he is natural born.
