My guess would be that it contains unicode that is clashing with HTML. That shouldn't happen. HTML uses ASCII characters to indicate mark-up, Unicode is a superset of ASCII, therefore any unicode document should be parsable as HTML.
(Granted you can do screwy things like reversing byte-order, but that should turn the whole document into gibberish, if anything.)
