With a .45 caliber legally strapped to his side, Jordan McManus decided to photograph the federal courthouse in Phoenix last night, realizing he would probably draw attention from police, especially after reading about Raymond Michaels experience last May.
But he was still a little surprised when a police helicopter hovered over him with a spotlight as two patrol cars pulled up next to him and another two cops approached him on foot.
They immediately tried to disarm him, but he refused to let them do it as it is legal to open carry in Arizona.
Then they tried to pat him down, which didnt make sense considering he was already showing a firearm. But he wouldnt let them do that either.
Youre carrying a firearm and taking a picture of a federal building, the cop exclaimed, trying to justify the pat down.
Then they demanded to know who he was, but didnt get anywhere with that either.
Here is a portion of the exchange:
Am I being detained right now? McManus asks.
Absolutely you are, yes, the cop responds.
You have reasonable suspicion that I committed a crime, right?
Well, Im concerned
Youre concerned. Are you detaining me?
I am, he says weakly.
Under the suspicion that I committed what crime?
I dont know yet. Youre not giving us any information.
And there you have the reason why police are always demanding to see peoples identification even though the people are not breaking the law. It gives them a hope that if they run your name through their system, they will find a bench warrant and have an excuse to arrest you.

Vying for 1st place!!!! It’s a tough call!
You are absolutely right.
Keep fighting the good fight.
I have to point you to post 157
This American made a point which you don’t grasp, specifically: multiple cops will show up - with helicopters! - for no reason other than FEAR.
Shut up and sit down before you get knocked down government serf
"Too much freedom going on over there... are we in some type of free country or something?"
“I dont think anyone here sees cops as enemies, put YOU seem to think theyre GODS.”
No, just decent men trying to do a tough job with very little positive feedback from the likes of you and your most likely libertarian friends. And they’d probably come to the aid of even the likes of you and your fellow cop dislikers (I won’t say haters so as not to offend you as I might be prone to want to do.)
“hut up and sit down before you get knocked down government serf”
Sticks and stones, and all that rot. Oh you child.
You don’t know jack about my like or dislike of cops. I don’t put em on a pedestal. There’s cops in my family.
If there was a concern about this one person, one car with one or two police would have sufficed.
As I said, you - as well as the PD - are victims of fear.
I bet the courthouse has its own security, they could have went out and asked him what was up. No reason to call in the 1st armored division.
Exactly. The helo is over the top.
“You are absolutely right.
Keep fighting the good fight.”
Thank you. It’s lonely out here on the battlefield. It’s later at night now, and all of the squirrels have come out of the attic, the rabid anti all gov’t types (libertarians I’m sure). Amazing how illogical and irrational some of these squirrels are. And they can’t read an article correctly where the jerk himself stated what he was up to. Hopeless. They forget Ronnie Reagan was Prez of a GOVERNMENT! Oh the horror of it all.
“As I said, you - as well as the PD - are victims of fear.”
Oh yeah, I’m sure the cops would be afraid of the likes of you, lol. An armchair complainer, scary to be sure. And that jerk, I’m sure they were just quaking in fear because of him. He was lucky he wasn’t shot. Oh, and by the way, that helicopter you keep referring to, don’t you know that the cops send out helicopters on every call? Yup, every one, yes indeedy. Out of fear. Yup, indeedy. That’s it.
If the guy was running in a crouch from cover to cover with a knapsack then yeah - probably need to confront him. Walking down the sidewalk.... not really helo-worthy.
Afraid of: TERRORISM.
“fraid of: TERRORISM.”
Now that’s something to be concerned about. See Boston Marathoners for reference.
As an unbiased watcher of this thread, it is safe to say that YOU are about a stones throw away from being a liberal.
Yes. And buying a pressure cooker is suspicious.
Do you see how “they” are winning? Do you see the culture of FEAR?
Failure to identify the enemy is to be vanquished.
The US govt. refuses to coherently identify the enemy for fear of offending some. Consequently we must live under a cloud of suspicion and fear.
The enemy is not “ragheads”, it is an ideology.
