I agree with you. Right-to-Life already spans a number of important issues including abortion, euthanasia, embryonic research, etc.

I think the National organization did the right thing regardless of why they did it. Maybe they should have warned the Cleveland chapter first and given them time to back down from their mission statement expansion, but I don't know enough of the details to know if they were already given sufficient warning.

From the comments on this thread I suppose I should hate the NRA for saying nothing specific about gay "marriage". Maybe the NRA is a bunch of fag-lovers too! /sarc

The NRTL specifically supported gay marriage.

on July 17th, the National Right to Life Committee (NRTL) chose to support Senator Rob Portman's newly expressed support of gay marriage

They SUPPORT it.

The NRA’s efforts are far afield from right to life, IMO. But I’m proud to stand with the Cleveland group on this one. Carol Tobias is a pale imitation of Dr. Jack Willkie and Dr. Mildred Jefferson. As someone who has attended several conventions, I say good-bye to National. Respect for human life cannot exist in a moral vacuum. Bob
