"In a state that has concealed carry, too, wouldn’t they choose to recognize your permit from another conceal carry state?"

I don't know. That's why I asked. Back when I was a Peace Officer and had to qualify every year, I could have purchased a gun on my badge here in NY State, but I chose not to because I had young kids at the time and didn't want to bring a gun into the house. I've always assumed that your weapons permit covered you for the county and state you lived in, and that it was illegal to transport a weapon over state lines. Since I've never owned a gun, I have no idea what the laws are in other states. I'm glad he has a gun. Hopefully, he has more than one.

I think there’s more to it than that. A state can choose to recognize documentation from another state and it makes sense to do so in certain situations and this looks like it would be one of them. A state where no such permit even exists would be problematic but believe me, Texas is not looking to arrest and charge people just because their permit is from another state.
