Were no good, were no good,
Were no earthly good,
Like the best of us is no damn good!
Until we put ourselves into God’s hands... yup
(since our greatest virtue then only serves nothing with a firmer anchor than our own drifting selves... nice words like “good, moral” can forever be mustered to whitewash this rickety wall but in the end all need an eternal anchor and all have deserted it. it’s just that cases like weiner highlight the problem so starkly it can’t be ignored even by cynical, jaded us.)
without God, all we are is duuuuuust in the winnnnnnnd... (to borrow a hippie era song for something that it probably was never meant to illustrate but manages to do so quite neatly)
