I agree. While not in active service, nor even callable in inactive service, I still remember being sworn in on a day of Augusr, 1956. I specifically know of no time ever being “un-sworn,” though I have a certificate titled “Honorable Discharge” with my name and serial number on it. I still feel obligated with grateful appreciatoion for the training I receive—was never “un-trained” either.
I, too remember my oath taken 6 January 1959. I, too was never “un-sworn” nor “un-trained”. I, too still am obligated to that oath.
I suspect that many, if not all, former service members feel the same. That would be several million strong. And armed.
