In another life I taught Survival Escape Resistance and Evasion classes to the military. Bud Day was the example I used in the Resistance to Interrogation classes. One of America’s true heroes that few knew of. This guy will go to heaven; he’s spent his time in hell.
Had the pleasure of meeting Col Day. I have a picture with his signature, along with the signatures of two other MOH recipients, Bernard Flemming and James Flemming.
Probably meant Bernard Fisher.
Exactly. Sorry about that. BTW, I met Bernard Fisher years ago when I was but a lad in Boy Scouts in Germany.
At the time Bernie Fisher still had red hair and looked like he was 20 something even though he was a full bull colonel.
John Levitow was the only enlisted airman to receive the MOH during the Vietnam War and as such, he was a demi-god for us enlisted guys.
Bud Day was like everybody's grandfather. I thought he was older than he was, he aged tremendously in captivity.
All three were the most humble and decent people you could ever hope to meet. Seeing the three together without the MOHs would remind you of a visit to Mayberry USA.
Thank you.
The Great One, Mark Levin, just honored him on his radio show.
