Chris Christie: Rand Paul ‘dangerous’
Politico ^ | 26 Jul 2013 | HADAS GOLD

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is ripping libertarians — including Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) — for challenging government surveillance programs and failing to understand the dangers of terrorism. “This strain of libertarianism that’s going through parties right now and making big headlines I think is a very dangerous thought,” the New Jersey GOP governor said on Thursday at a Republican governors forum in Aspen, Colo. “You can name any number of people and (Paul is) one of them.”

Christie, a potential 2016 candidate who appeared on the panel with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, said lawmakers who are questioning government surveillance programs should hear from the families affected by the Sept. 11 attacks.

“These esoteric, intellectual debates — I want them to come to New Jersey and sit across from the widows and the orphans and have that conversation. And they won’t, because that’s a much tougher conversation to have,” Christie said. “The next attack that comes, that kills thousands of Americans as a result, people are going to be looking back on the people having this intellectual debate and wondering whether they put …” Christie said before trailing off. Paul’s office shot back on Friday, saying Christie may need a “new dictionary.”

The reason I ask is that I’m picking Cruz’s running mate for him (don’t tell him, it’s a surpise). Paul, Walker, Pence, West?

Before I support West I need to hear what he thinks about Snowden/NSA/ and the rest of the encroaching police state.

I am fine with Cruz or Rand I would love for that to be the final two running in primaries.

Ummm, our problem isn’t a ‘9’11’ thing - it’s that thugs in the federal government are using their massive power to target conservative American citizens.

I see Chris Christie is starting to use the language of Democrats.. that his ‘political opponesnts’ are ‘dangerous’. Being a totalitarian thug ( while doing ‘for the poor’ to justify political thuggery ) is the oldest game in the book. It’s sooooooooooooo democrat - soooooooooo banana republic... sooooooo creepy.

I could do no worse than the one we have. I know I am more qualified as my IQ in the triple digits and I have a steady moral compass.

Cruz/Paul is probably the best overall ticket.

The biggest thing to like about Rand Paul is that he has conviction as a Conservative. He is unafraid to tell his opinion, stick with it and will answer questions without a lot of verbal gymnastics.

Exactly. Chubs should concentrate on running NJ and give up any hope of winning presidential primaries, unless he thinks appealing to the Bill Kristol/McLame wing of the GOP is enough to get him over.

Let us not forget that Ann “who isn’t a conservative” Coulture loves this man and scolded those of us who don’t and attempted to belittle us.

“Since the Islamists have openly stated that we are their enemy ...”

Not all of them. I wonder how many of them. A tenth? Half? Most? How many are our enemy but would never admit it?

Your post makes some good points.

Rand Paul certainly does manage to upset all the right people. I’m not wild about our leading candidates (Paul, Cruz) being Senators, but they sure do get a reaction from the usual suspects. Countdown until Jeb Bush says something bad about Paul or Cruz......

Isn’t Christie a Jihad lover himself having taken to task the City of New York police undercover work to uncover Jihadists in Jersey?

I thought Christie was a change from the Rebel Yell/6000 year old earth/Dinos died on Noah’s Ark crowd that dominates the GOP right now. But he fell on his face (metaphorically, of course, since his gut caught the fall)

Chris Christie: Rand Paul ‘dangerous’

Chris Christie recently stated that he agreed with liberal NY Governor Andrew Cuomo on 98% of the issues.

Obviously this is one of the areas that Chris Christie agrees with liberal Democrats, they hate Conservatives.
