Quite to the contrary, yours is the extreme minority opinion (thank God). It’s laughable that those who would support the efforts of slavers who crapped all over the constitution would even attempt to toss stones in that particular glass house.

No. He fought the civil war limited by that constitution, against an enemy which violated it at every turn.

We were lucky to have such a man.
