A husband and wife canceled a news conference in which they had planned to talk about how George Zimmerman assisted them after their SUV flipped over on a Florida highway.
Mark and Dana Gerstle had planned to speak Wednesday afternoon at the Orlando law office of Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara.

Nicely said! Some people have absolutely no idea what a singular event such as a threatening phone call, a death threat letter in your mail box or something thrown at your house can have on you and your family psychologically.
You don't sleep well and every weird night time noise or some car you hear driving slowly by your house gets you out of bed and looking out the front window.
The family did the right thing and I hope they are armed.....

It's your statement that is absurd, nobody said they were going into hiding except you. They just don't want the media attention and the possibile backlash that could result in it...Why is that such a sin?
And who aired the story in the first place? I doubt it was the family who called up the local paper and said "Guess what guys?"

But my question is:
How did the Daily Mail get those pictures of the family if not from the parents directly???
I would NEVER turn my back on someone who saved my families life.

Nothing good ever comes from talking with the press. Ever. They can say “we don’t want to associate with Zimmerman” to the press, then do the opposite in private.
So it's better for the dad, who is supposed to be the protector of the family, to put the kids at risk of physical harm (or even death)?

By the way, why don't you and the others who on this thread who think they are cowards volunteer to serve as unpaid body guards for this family? Put your time and money where your mouth is.

A Cindy Sheehan nut event isn’t the same as this. There are hundreds if not thousands of people making death threats against Zimmerman, his family, his lawyer, and anyone else supporting him.
Far different then wearing a tshirt in front of a few code pink whackos. Unless of course you had the black panthers also at that event looking to kill people refusing to support Cindy.
The reporters would throw questions, and no matter if the questions are answered or not, the press will fabricate a story around the appearance. There is ZERO probability of any good coming from agreement to talk with the press.
The family doesn't control the outcome once they agree to appear or to talk to the press.
Running toward danger yourself is one thing. Throwing your children into danger is quite another.
