How does involuntary military service not qualify as being compelled to work?

Is Freedom involuntary? How about Liberty, is that involuntary? The original price was paid in full, for the short term.

I didn't comment on whether or not involuntary military servitude is a proper public policy, but rather simply noted that it does compel citizens to work.

(For the record, though, I am it)

During the draft years, you could always opt out. Has slavery ever offered that option?

Even if one were to "opt out" of the draft (I presume you're speaking of declaring one's self a conscientious objector), one was still forced to work for the government in a non-combat role. If the objector refused to do so, he was thrown in jail. Thus, the draft is an example of the State forcing people to work, is it not?

Make that: (For the record, though, I am against it)

Is there any way to edit one's posts?
