RE :”I don't mean to repeat old material, but the article did say Labrador was planning to negotiate this thing in conference. I think it would be remiss not to mention this”

Negotiate?? Bohner’s now calling for full citizenship, except its just for ‘the kids’.

We have yet to see a ‘this thing’, just all these balloons.

I said it before, and I’ll say it again....if Boehner passes ANYTHING, we will lose. You all are pretty darn sharp in the political realm, but I stand firm on this. We pass anything, we lose.

Tried to get through to Boehner’s staff today but the message said they were getting a heavy call volume. Got the automatic prompt. Left a message that creating Dem voters is foolish and it will cost him votes that would have come from the base in 2014.

SJB said to tell him to not pass ANYTHING in another comment.( 'I said it before, and I’ll say it again....if Boehner passes ANYTHING, WE WILL LOSE. You all are pretty darn sharp in the political realm, but I stand firm on this. We pass anything, WE LOSE.')

but above says you just told him not to create new Dem voters, I assume you mean from illegals.

Now if he passes something but it just doesnt make new Dem voters and WE LOSE like he says then its all your fault because you were not clear on that message to him, now I am worried because I know Bohner will do what you say :)

It's hard to get everything in a phone message. At best, they might listen to a single idea. Probably not even that much.

But I do wonder if Boehner is putting out the citizenship plan (which he would be happy to pass) while thinking he could back up to legalization-only, (which he could sell to some as an improvement over his citizenship position) if he had to.

Basic haggling strategy.

If we pass anything, we lose. Obamas/Holder/Jarrett ignore or break the law every day. You can’t give them anything, period. Yeah, it is that simple.

Also, although I think no bill from the House is safer, if they did pass some kind of legalization only in the House it’s possible that both sides would dig in and not do immigration at all.

There are several ways this could play out, most of them bad.

As Darrel Royal said, when you throw a pass, 3 things can happen, and 2 of them are bad.

If bohner really wants amnesty to pass into law now which he appears to, he will continue to push for citizenship as Rubio did.

also, if the Mccin club and Dems start really thinking that they wont get a bill then we will find out if they re serious about citizenship or not, or if Obama has to try to sell that that lesser path., or if Bohner is willing to break/keep his promise.

if they are permitted to stay...

If they are permitted to stay, no Republican will ever be elected to office again. The strain of hispanic vs blacks in fragile neighborhoods will explode. You'll have another few decades of unemployed black men. The nation will not survive.

If the invaders want a pathway to citizenship, they should return to their homelands and practice it. Here, they're stealing our jobs, our benefits, our education opportunities, our dignity as a nation that used to be run by the rule of law. They should be disgusted with themselves, and go home in shame, instead of assuming we should reward their criminal behavior.

Naturalization without citizenship is a mistake, IMO.
Having two classes of people has never ended well.
If they are permitted to stay then they should have the ability to eventually become citizens.

We already have two classes: government agent, and citizen.

I’m not saying they should be permitted to stay. I think they should be deported.

If they are permitted, then they should have the opportunity to obtain citizenship.

If they are permitted...

There's no discussion of an "if". THE INVADERS CANNOT BE PERMITTED TO STAY. Any Republican who doesn't demand that they all return to their homelands will ever be elected again. They're traitors.
