He takes those positions -- because he said several times -- to prove that he is independent of the conservatives as a group.

I can remember only one time before (when Clinton was president) that he went this far.

There were other times when he was correct like backing the basketball player accused of rape.

Notice the passion in his voice now, last week when he was talking against Zimmerman, there was no passion behind it which made me suspect of the motive behind it.

I think one should take positions that are just and in accordance with decency and the Constitution. I guess ratings are more important than justice and the truth.
