NEW YORK | NEW YORK (Reuters) - After his acquittal on murder charges for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman may go to law school to help people wrongly accused of crimes like himself, close friends told Reuters on Sunday.
The 29-year old was found not guilty late Saturday for shooting the unarmed black teenager in a case that sparked a national debate on race and gun laws. One of his first calls was to defense witness John Donnelly and his wife Leanne Benjamin.
They got to know Zimmerman in 2004 when he and a black friend opened up an insurance office in a Florida building where Benjamin worked. They grew close and the couple spent time with him during the trial.
Over dinner with Zimmerman recently, Benjamin said he told them he would like to go to law school.
"I'd like to help other people like me," she quoted him as telling them..........

The message is fine, but it’s thread spamming. You should have more faith in your fellow freepers. We’re not naive, we know they’re up to.

He could go to Ave Maria in Naples, assuming he does not want to move from Florida. It’s a conservative law school located near a wealthy retirement community.
I think the same could be said of every message posted on every thread, and in fact could be said of every thread. Let’s just shut ‘er down. FReepers are not naive and know what’s going on.
I don’t agree. I think that is is easy for people to fall into torpor or immobilizing anxiety, and in fact I believe that our government is counting on this to occur. You and I and all of us have a responsibility to do what we can to ensure that this will not happen. Once the illegals get legal status our country is forever changed. If it annoys you to see this message over and over, well we must not grow weary.
Furthermore, and more substantively, consider how many threads have been posted about Zimmerman today, and how many about Boehner and Cantor’s effort to force legal status for illegals. If we all were aware of what they are up to and what needs to be done, this ratio would be reversed.
