Yup. That scares me. If they didn’t return a “not guilty” pronto, they’re unclear on the concept of “beyond a reasonable doubt”. They can be unconvinced of his innocence, but they can’t be sure of his guilt - and that should be obvious.

I’ve always heard that the longer it takes a jury, the better it is for the defendant.
