Watching the trial I found the state to be, in a word disgusting.

I think Mark Omeara said something similar in the summary.

Power of the state is in vicious hands in that court room. The one lawyer made me sick to my stomach, the arrogance he displayd. Just disgusting, Judge and both lawyers. Angela Corey, I think? The one responsible for this mess, a disgusting pig.

The fact they kept Trayvons phone out of evidence is horrendous. It has just as much value as the stupid bottle of ice tea and bag of skittles. That decision by the judge spoke volumes as to what a pig she is.

My fear is Eric Holder drops in tomorrow and announces he will press federal charges, violation of Trayvons civil rights. These people are vicious scum.

We are similar mind.

Phone records, character awareness are particularly Troubling.

As pointed out by myself and others, how will the jury react if they find GZ guilty, and then learn the judge ruled to withold important info, based on some bogus burden of proof.

Regarding holder he will wait, but not long if the verdict is Not Guilty.

My understanding is that he can't do that - Federal Civil Rights laws in a situation like this only apply to actions taken under color of authority. Which is how they went after the Rodney King cops.

Zimmerman is a civilian, so there's no Federal civil rights violation in play. They *could* try to claim color of authority given Zimmerman's participation in the Neighborhood Watch program ... but that's not only risky from a legal standpoint (given lack of precedent), but also from a political one: it puts a bulls-eye on ALL Neighborhood Watch organizations and participants. I'm not a member of one, but I have friends who are and when this subject came up they said that not only would they stop participating in their programs, they'd think that their programs would just up and disband. If only because the need for liability insurance would skyrocket.

Some might argue that the elimination of Neighborhood Watch organizations would play into the hands of the Liberals, and maybe it would in the long-term. Except you'd never get to that long term because in the short term a hell of a lot of suburbanites (read: Soccer Moms) would see their Watch organizations fall apart with people pointing the finger squarely at Obama/Holder/Democrats.

The worst thing for me, even worse than the things you mentioned, was the prosecution's open, repeated calls for the jurors to ignore the evidence and "listen to your heart".

I can understand a defense attorney calling for nullification because sometimes that's all you have against the vast power of the State.

But a representative of that State power calling for the nullification of the law is nothing but chilling.
