Lets go through the evidence

That looks about right. But only after they’d already voted once.

I was a foreman on murder trial many years ago (1992) Timeline was this... they appointed me (most had already talked among themselves about that). I said okay.

Case seemed open and shut to me. I said I've never done this but let's start with a vote on Murder 1. We all wrote down our vote. Me and lady next to me counted and it was 10 to 1 that he was guilty. We all went around the table and said our piece. About a minute each. Lady next to me was the one that didn't think he was guilty. I spoke last and we convinced her. We voted again and wrote them all down again. It was 11 to 0. Then we all just visited about it a few minutes.

We all agreed on sentence (life without parole). We were done in just under 45 minutes. Rang the buzzer and guy came to the door saying.... "do you need some documents?". I said no, tell the judge we have a decision. He was shocked. I signed the document they had provided. They made us wait about 20 minutes while they got both parties back in the court house. (I hot boxed a cigarette with the window open while we waited)

Judge made me stand up and read the decision. Defense polled the jury. Called us each by NAME! We all said yes. They walked us out the back door and to our cars, because the defendant had a bunch of scary looking friends there.

Later I've learned it's not suppose to work that way.
