Nope. No verdict today. Theres always that one hold-out juror.. And there WILL be at least ONE.
I notice that people take on roles in juries. There seems to always be someone who, if they notice nobody else is taking one of the sides, they will, just so the group will be forced to deliberate. It’s why, on my second jury, I tried to get us to do a “secret” poll as soon as we entered the chamber, for the express purpose of keeping someone from doing that. Didn’t work. A couple of people simply refused to participate in even that. ;-)
But I think you are right. Usually at least one jurer, even if just for the attention, will hold out if it is otherwise unanimous.
I would agree if this weren’t a Friday, and if they hadn’t been sequestered. As it is, I don’t think any juror will want to hold out just to grandstand.
