Here is a simple definition: Are you a reasonable person? Do you have any doubt? If you are reasonable, and you have any doubt, then by definition there is a “reasonable doubt”.
The state needed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Zimmerman was NOT acting in self defense. If a reasonable person thinks Zimmerman MIGHT have been acting in self-defense, then that person must vote for acquittal.
