The point Bernie’s trying to make is that GZ had the gun out before TM punched him to the ground.

So that means that GZ, gun at the ready, was willing to let Trayvon get the first punch, and second, and third... break his nose, bang his head on the concrete (or convenient tree), cry for help in front of witnesses, and then decided to be angry and spiteful, and commit 2nd degree murder by shooting... once.
