From what I read in Flying, you can build up your hours by instructing at the school you trained at. Of course you still need the type rating, but now days the FAA will accept simulator time, like from FlightSafety, toward the 1500. Sure wish I was twenty years younger

The problem is that airlines & insurance companies equate HOURS with EXPERIENCE.

Hours do not mean a lot.

Experience is better.

Understanding & Wisdom are what is needed, but very difficult to quantify or document.

Think the hours spent commuting for 10 years on the I-405 in LA vs driving a season in a World Rally Championship car.
