Zimmerman Attorney: 'My Client Will Never Be Safe' If Acquitted

George Zimmerman's attorney said something Monday that is a truly sad statement about our society and the current state of America's media.

Appearing on CNN's Piers Morgan Live, Mark O'Mara said that if Zimmerman is acquitted of all charges, "He'll never be safe" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

PIERS MORGAN: If George Zimmerman is acquitted, completely acquitted, not found guilty of second-degree murder, no lesser charge of manslaughter, and walks free, having killed somebody we know after the event was an unarmed young teenager, there is a concern that this will create a lot of ill feeling, particularly in the black community around America. There may possibly be riots. You will have read the same warnings about this.

How concerned are you about that and about the safety of your client should he be declared an innocent man?

MARK O'MARA, ATTORNEY FOR GEORGE ZIMMERMAN: Well, first of all, my client will never be safe because there are a percentage of the population who are angry, they're upset and they may well take it out on him. So he'll never be safe.

My hope is that the system that is better than any other in the country -- I'm sorry, in the world is working, and I think that anybody who pays attention to the facts of this case listens to the evidence, will not leave that courtroom thinking that George Zimmerman is guilty of anything. And if a jury agrees, they should not and cannot be frustrated with the outcome, because the state's put on a good case, we put on a good case.

Everything that should get out to this jury has been out, and quite honestly, a lot of what doesn't necessarily need to get out to the jury has been kept from them. And if they decide on the facts of the case, we as a society, black, white, everybody need to look at this case and say, justice was in fact accomplished here because a fair trial was held.

Those who refuse to listen to that they're not going to listen to me or you, or sensibilities at all anyway, they're going to stay frustrated and stay angry.

Indeed they will.

If Zimmerman really can't be safe if acquitted, or if some harm were to befall him afterwards, wouldn't all of these media members and outlets be to blame for their shameful coverage of this matter?

If the obviously guilty Casey Anthony can be acquitted by a Florida jury, the obviously not guilty Zimmerman can be acquitted by a Florida jury.

It makes perfect sense.

If someone as obviously guilty as Casey Anthony can be acquitted because, as various observers claimed, "the evidence just wasn't there to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt" then it follows in the case of George Zimmerman - where there is zero evidence of guilt - the reasonable doubt standard would make it that much easier to acquit.

Anthony shows us that Florida juries apparently need live HD footage of a crime in order to convict someone.

Not much worry in North Dallas away from the ferals in OakCliff, EVERYONE I know who is male and quite a few females are CHL. Personally I never leave the house with out my Glock 23 with 3 standard capacity mags, My Glock 17 with 3 x 33 round extended mags in the glove box and my DPMS M4 flat top with 6 standard capacity mags and a bumpfire stock setup worth every penny of the 350 i spent on it 600+ rounds a min of accurate fire.

This is just what I leave my home with on an average day I probably will double the AR mags to 12 fully loaded after the verdict.

My roommate has a similar load out in his truck two pistols of 45acp and an M4 with 6 mags were both Vets and go to the range once a week every week with the M4’s and our carry pistols. We both are experts in every weapon we carry. I am also a former sniper so if shit really goes down my M110 7.62x51 comes out for some long distance clean up duty.

If the darker members of the city want a fight here in Texas at least we will put all of them in the grave and eat BBQ over beers later that day feeling perfectly content of having ride the planet of more trash. A lot of us want them to bring it so we can finally get this cold war to turn hot and get the fight over with.
