Whippet is nitrous oxide. It comes in a small metal capsule, and is/was used to produce whipped cream.

Back in the day, one would empty the Whippet capsule into a balloon-like device, and then empty the balloon into one’s lungs.

At least that’s what I’ve been told. Heh, heh.
