There are plenty of people with less than 110 IQ going to college.

The four socially and personally most important threshold regions on the IQ scale are those that differentiate with high probability between persons who, because of their level of general mental ability, can or cannot attend a regular school (about IQ 50), can or cannot master the traditional subject matter of elementary school (about IQ 75), can or cannot succeed in the academic or college preparatory curriculum through high school (about IQ 105), can or cannot graduate from an accredited four-year college with grades that would qualify for admission to a professional or graduate school (about IQ 115).
So what? That is the dumbest statement to make since reality is far from that statement. Have you ever been inside a college?

And you pull an IQ of 110 out of thin air?
So Mr. Davis chose zero income. That’s a lot less than $16.53 an hour.
I’m not advocating for the unions in this case, simply the American workers in general. As the outsourcing of work/importing of workers continues, I’m sure the number of FReepers that don’t feel this guys pain will dwindle. Tech and financial jobs are in the overlords’ crosshairs now...

No Brainiac.
Minimum needed to succeed in College prep HIGH SCHOOL CCURRICULUM is 105.
The ability to succeed and graduate WELL IN COLLEGE is a minimum needed of 115 (Well meaning with grades good enough to go to grad school).
So I split the difference to 110 for people with some college through graduating without the ability to continue in post grad programs.
“since I lost my job I have seen the same exact job advertised by other employers for $3 to $5 less an hour than what I was making.”
Considering the rise in costs of groceries, how is this not terrifying?
“go work someplace else, go do something else, go create something else.”
A bit of oversimplifying; any place where he could get $16 per hour would pay politicians off to replace him with an $11 per hour foreigner (NOT a younger American).
Many people in this man’s position exercised another option - they voted for a communist. They have no sympathy for us, either...
“In an intact family with both spouses working similarly-compensated jobs, thatd provide a household income of $52,000 per year in a part of the country where thats a decent, middle-class family income.”
No need for “family” in there; if they’re both working there won’t be any kids. Don’t take my word for it - just look around.
"Hey, I'm just trying to be a good capitalist and yet every time I fire a bunch of people they turn around and vote for socialists. The ingrates!"
And on the flip side:
"Hey, we keep passing more regulations on businesses, and yet they turn around and fire more Americans. The ingrates!"
Welcome to the swirling sewer drain.
“Welcome to the swirling sewer drain.”
That’s a great description of what is happening, and the most dramatic result is a negative birthrate for “white Americans”. Unintended (or intended?) consequences of open borders and gubmint regulation. These populations are driving the remaining companies and American workers out of NJ.
Not at all. The new Hostess like any other company in this economy recognizes that there's more people looking for jobs than there are jobs available, and taking advantage of that fact.
Your post insinuates that a forklift driver with 22 years doing the same job is entitled to make what he was making before.
Wrong. He's not entitled to any starting salary other than that which the employer is willing to pay.
Plain and simple, that's the fact. He got in bed with the union against Hostess and he got burned. If he didn't know at the time the risk he was taking in doing that, he damn' sure does now.
Sometimes life's a bitch and teaches us tough lessons. He just got his.
What breaks the bank is fork lift operators making 35k per year retiring at 55 and collecting 2000.00/month in perpetuity. Who pays for that?
Probably just like you go to bed every night with your attitude...
Sure there's room for one more...But there's not room for everyone who's dissatisfied with his wages...
You don't know what you are talking about...I know numerous skilled trades people who are out of work looking for work just in my little part of the world...
“Probably just like you go to bed every night with your attitude...”
My attitude is great. I go to bed knowing getting up in the morning is worth it and it will be another productive day. I don’t just sit on my ass thinking why try or that not everyone can be what they want to be so why bother.
That’s not algebra...That’s simple math...
You're clearly one of them. Profits are NOT "skyrocketing", and any person who wants a piece of any highly-profitable company can buy shares in it.
He’s a forklift driver. A FORKLIFT. Nuff said.
