Conservative Group To Launch Ad Supporting Senate Immigration Bill

Immigrant students hold a vigil outside the West Los Angeles Federal Building last month calling on Congress to pass the immigration overhaul. (Damian Dovarganes / Associated Press / June 27, 2013)

By Lisa Mascaro July 7, 2013 WASHINGTON -- As an overhaul of immigration laws shifts to the House, a right-leaning group is launching a new television ad campaign Monday that will call on House lawmakers -- and, implicitly, resistant Republicans -- to support the Senate-passed “border surge” as part of “conservative immigration reform."

The ad seeks to influence rank-and-file lawmakers as House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) convenes Republicans behind closed doors to assess how the GOP majority will respond to the bipartisan Senate bill.

Many House Republicans oppose the legislation because it includes a 13-year citizenship path for immigrants here without legal status. But influential party leaders think other rank-and-file lawmakers may be interested in a compromise that could help the party’s outreach to the growing Latino electorate.

American Action Network is tied with Karl Rove. Together with the Hispanic Leadership Network they are selling the Senate Bill 744 to the House.

Have these minnow-minded morons even read ANY part of the bill?

With this bill, I could take that $50+/hour job on the UP of MI without ANY repercussions. I could likely even avoid both Cdn and IRS taxation...

Wow, what a temptation. Pity I have an ethical aversion to breaking the law....

Went to this “conservative group’s” website. I really didn’t see anything to convince me that they are conservative as we know it. Rubio fans.

I have absolutely no doubt that this "conservative group" is just another front group for the GOPe - - organized, funded, and directed BY the GOPe.

American Action Network backs Rubio on immigration with cable ad

The center-right American Action Network super PAC is running an ad on Fox News in Florida backing Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., for drafting and voting for comprehensive immigration reform in the Senate.

Rubio has faced heat from the right for supporting the bill, which would legalize nearly 11 million immigrants in the country while vastly increasing enforcement resources at the southern border. An ABC News/Washington Post poll found that his “strongly favorable” ratings among Republicans had dropped 11 points compared with last August, while his popularity among Democrats has increased slightly.

The ad emphasizes the border security provisions of the bill. “Radar. Night vision. Even drones,” the narrator intones in the background.

While the legislation passed the Senate with votes from 14 Republicans, including Rubio, it’s still unclear if the Republican-led House will take up the reform baton.

Heh... I just scrolled the thread and yep, this "conservative group" is just another front group for the GOPe - - organized, funded, and directed BY the GOPe. It is easily within the realm of possibility that the GOPe has teamed up with the Democrats to fund and direct this "conservative" group's efforts. That is how despicable these animals are.

In January 2011, the American Action Network created the Hispanic Leadership Network to bring more Hispanics to the Republican party.

According to the organization’s website, the Hispanic Leadership Network is a “sustained effort to engage the Hispanic Community on center right issues”. Key members include executive director Jennifer Korn, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, former United States Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and former United States Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez.

Jeb Bush... well well well.

Gutierrez was GW Bush’s “point men working with Congress to pass comprehensive immigration legislation” (wikipedia)

The Bush’s need to go away.

American Action Network repeatedly refers to itself as “center right”, which means it isn’t.

The organization was founded to promote and support center right issues

I am pretty sure the key words "center right issues" were OKed for a free pass by the IRS Cincinnati Office.
