...Now that the prosecution's case against Zimmerman is in, as a legal matter, I just don't see how a jury convicts him of second degree murder or even manslaughter in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
So what happened? How can an armed man who shot and killed an unarmed teen after being told by the police that he didn't need to keep following him, likely be found not guilty of those crimes?
I certainly sympathize with the anger and frustration of the Martin family and doubt that a jury will accept the entirety of George Zimmerman's account as credible. But based on the legal standard and evidence presented by prosecutors it is difficult to see how jurors find proof beyond a reasonable doubt that it wasn't self defense.
Prosecutors are at a distinct legal disadvantage.

These prosecutors with intelligence haven't protested, so they're just as guilty as the Zimmerman prosecutors.
This was established at the Nuremberg trials after the Second World War.
If Zimmerman had set out from the beginning to shoot Martin (or cause him any harm), then he sure as hell wouldn’t have called the police first.
Or allow the little angel to jump him and then proceed to pummel him...

The Judge in this case should have imposed a media black out!
This is not about ratings, political gain for pundits, or factions of race it’s about Z’s life!

When the racists saw the name “Zimmerman” they jumped the gun. They thought he was a Jew and they could hang him out to dry. When it turned out he was a dark-skinned young man, they simply double-downed, embarrassed at their stupidity, but refusing to let go. As a New Yorker who lived through Bernie Goetz, I’ve seen it all before.
Of course, those of us who have lived in inner cities, learn very early to profile people. It’s the only way to survive.
I hate to appear stupid (what else is new?) but why 6 jurors?
People would love to “prove” Drudge wrong ...

I know that witnesses and the jury are instructed to not watch media coverage of the trial, but what about the judge? Is she allowed to watch the news and discuss the case with other people?
Only a city dweller can understand that.

Not a capitol case, murder 2 does not carry death penalty.
