I never cease to be amazed at the amount of time freight train cars spend sitting around. One would think that they are like little packets that have to be checked for their destination and then speedily sent on their way down the correct track.

Time is money.

Yet trains are about the most efficient way to move most freight cross country (Aside from things like oil and gas)

The Cannadians have the same silly notion that a train driver should not drive more than 8 hours and then rest for 16 hours like our department of transportation does, I suspect, and they no longer carry cabooses to have co drivers sleep while the other drives.
