An American Airlines pilot provided that statistic. Maybe he was embellishing it a bit. on two occasions, fog prevented our SF destined airplane from landing and we were redirected to Oakland.
I found I could get around more quickly out of Oakland and always got a reasonably priced rental car at the terminal. Plus, I was close to Emeryville. I liked to meet customers for lunch at Trader Vic's (now sadly gone) and be positioned to run to the oil refineries the same day.
SF was always questionable.
