You assumed right, SB. Steve86 just explained that it did a “horizontal groundloop”, meaning it spun horizontally on the ground. That certainly sounds less stressful to those onboard than having it cartwheel!

It was the fire that did the most damage..surviving the initial crash is one thing, but when your stuck on a plane that catches fire and you have 290+ others trying to get off the plane too that is the death trap..you want to get off but you can't because everyone wants to get off at the same time..
