WOW! The main fuselage buckled and when it sprang back, it threw the tail off like a snap. That force went from mains, thru fuselage, and then snapped that tail off when it rolled forward and back of source. Better the tail snapped off than the cockpit.

That MD80 hard landing looks like a plausible comparison. Pilot was in trouble, took his choice of runways, apparently.

That's exactly what could have happened here.
Sounds like the tip of the wing also hit the runway upon landing.
I wonder if the pilot was having trouble controling the plane or dealing with strong winds ?
