Currently just Tweets and locals talking about this, nothing on news sites yet. Lots of stuff in the Twitter feed, including links to uploaded videos of the smoking mess.
Pilot error. He miscalculated regarding the location of the jetty. Clipped tail = disaster.
Flights are fueled for the planned trip, plus needed fuel to the alternate landing airport (if any; depends on weather), plus enough to miss a couple of approaches, plus a standard amount in reserve. It would be very unusual for them to fuel for an extra 3-4 hours of flight time (topping it off) unless there was a good reason for it. Topping off the fuel reduces the available payload weight and costs money. So it probably wasn't "bingo" on fuel (no emergency or anything), but it would have been a great deal lighter on fuel than when it takes off.
Go follow your own advice and buzz off. Your kind tends to show up and defend the indefensible. “Non-thinking idiots”? Take a look in the mirror. Better yet, go write another fan letter to some wanna-be man who can’t even carry anyone out of a burning building. Maybe if you personally weigh under a certain weight, I wish you the best of luck. You think that’s all fine because s/he can make a few phone and radio calls. Sounds like the Bay Area sure brainwashed you.
thanks

Look....Blitzer is a buffoon.....but so are all of the rest of media, including FNC!!! None of them know one iota relative to what they are talking about. I only trust Boeing, the Asiana flight crew, including the flight attendents. The rear fuselage bukhead is the main structural dome member that keeps the fuselage structurally sound during pressurization increases and decreases. This bulkhead was blown apart by something that occurred in the aircraft cabin. These idiots do not have a clue!!! There is much to be learned about this ill fated flight. Too many folks know not what they speak of!!! I’ll wait for the experts to come forth with the facts!!! And....they are the Boeing Aircraft Company and the Asiana flight crew, period.
Well it was pretty obvious this one wasn’t a terrorist incident. Would you prefer we lock everything down “just in case” and act like scared ninnies until 99.99% turns into 100%?
She’s a straight divorced Catholic raising three sons on her own as her ex has been in and out of rehab. What’s your deal with this lady?
I have relatives that did and do work for Phx FD. One old timer couldn’t stand it when they started lowering the standards for the Gals. He said most of them couldn’t do the same lifting/carrying as the guys.
Me, I want the most qualified and meets All the standards working the emergencies.
Tourists and business people react differently in aircraft incidents. Biz people just get the hell out, while tourist passengers panic, and try to recover belongings before leaving.
In the Air Canada airborne fire, crash landing at Cinci, the mostly biz crowd was able to evacuate quickly. In the British midland crash, the all-tourist crowd jammed the doors in panic, and many died as a result.
This would have been a Saturday departure from Korea, meaning lots of tourists.
Prayers up for all the injured, and for the families of those who never made it home.
All but one passenger now accounted for! still only 2 DOA.
Of course the “women” can’t do it. They lowered all the physical standards in SF so that they could get their most favored classes in. There are some tall buildings there and while it would be hard enough for some of these wanna-bes to drag anyone out of a first floor, they have to rely on the real men to carry anyone out of the higher floors.
You’re unhinged, or drunk. Sober up so you’ll make sense. This banter is inappropriate on a thread regarding a plane disaster - let it go. I played on inter-department softball games in the city, and the female firefighters often bested the men and won games. I’m not kidding, some of these gals (Hayes-White included) can lift and carry men on ladders.
I like dialogue with respect and dignity, even when folks differ...not rants. So....I wll keep my comments civil!!! I respect your thoughts. Courtesy calls that you should at least respect mine, even if we disagree!!!
OK, the idiot spokesmouth on the presser now just said there’s no indication terrorism had anything to do with it. Really, and how does he know that 6+ hrs into the accident?
I still want to know where these so-called 60 people are that are unaccounted for.
#UPDATE: SFO: 49 seriously injured, 132 suffered moderate injures. 181 hospitalized.123 not injured. 1 person unaccounted for.
Where is the starboard engine?
From your numbers there was over 400 people on board.
The only article that I could find (quick search) with the 60 missing was a small Reuters article that was linked to by Drudge.
Am I missing something?
Any injured or deceased is horrific. Could the early reports by passengers, hospitals be that far off?
