15:45 In the city of Tanta in Gharbiya governorate, locals formed a human shield around the Mar Girgis church to protect it after Morsi supporters attacked it with stones, reported Ahram Arabic.
15:43 Egypt’s presidency has declared a state of emergency in Egypt, to last for one month.
15:40 There have been a number of reports of violence against the media in Cairo today. As well as the death of Sky News cameraman Mick Deane, the death of Habiba Ahmed Abd El-Aziz, a reporter for UAE’s Gulf News, has been confirmed. Both were killed at Rabaa.
Egypt’s Journalists Syndicate issued condolences on El-Aziz’s passing, and called for urgent investigations into the incident.
MENA reports that a number of other journalists were injured while covering the violence, including Al-Masry Al-Youm photographer Ahmed El-Naggar and Al-Watan reporter Tarek Abbas.

Egypts Government Thugs Beat Me Up at the Rabaa Sit-In

Scores of protesters are feared dead after a day of violence in Cairo. Mike Giglio was among the foreign reporters arrested and beaten by security forces
Thank y’all for your all-night excellent coverage.
- State of Emergency for a month declared by the government.
- The latest is that the people are calling for demonstrations tomorrow “in all squares or stations near your house to support the security forces and PREVENT THE ARMED MB from going through, taking over buildings and firing on the security forces.”
- your reporting of reporters killed are definitely what the MB would HAVE TO DO FOR THE WESTERN PRESS! This time we’ll see what the medical examiners will report on WHO KILLED THEM.
- calls for calm and negotiations between all parties by the West, as reported, is exactly what the coordinated effort between the MB and their western alies! IMO, ain’t gonna happen because the MB armed killers, snipers and what have you, will be exterminated or arrested. Eventually, death penalties and life with no possibility of parole will be raining on the remnants.
- the Salafis call for “calm and not to attack or burn gov. buildings and CHURCHES is exactly orders for doing the opposite. Anyone can read into this in the planing of what to DO when and according to what PEACEFUL STATEMENTS ISSUED! Expect more violence and burning to comply with the REAL ORDERS!
- tried to call Cairo through a vonage service here and got voice mails. I don’t know whether Egyptians are not available ( I can imagine) or the phone network is purposely out to cut the MB communication with their allies abroad.
- the people are reported to be supporting their security forces in the governorates and clashing with the MB. Unarmed people are condoning churches to protect them from the MB.
- police chief in Hehya, Daqahliya, said that the police broke the MB cut off of the highway to Cairo. There are reported deaths and injuries from both sides.
- Menofiya governorate is totally cut off, according to last reports.

17:00 Thousands of pro-Morsi protesters are marching on the 6 October Bridge blocked by armoured police vehicles trying to find their way to the main Rabaa Al-Adawiya protest camp. There are still hundreds of people at the site, and more trying to enter.
16:55 The cabinet has declared a curfew from 7pm tonight until 6am tomorrow morning.
Ghost of Rachel Corry appears to protect injured chile.
Well, you know that’s coming.
Is that the security vehicle that had personnel in it?
Mercy!
Surprise...surprise!
Just heard that the amount of “heavy weapons” found in Nahda is much more than what was found in Rabaa, so far. With the number of animals in Rabaa many times the ones in Nahda, this is considered a relief to save blood.
Heavy weapons are fire arms including machine guns and RPGs, of course, as the preferred terrorist weapons.
Martial law legally allows the military to interfer and prevent looting, burning attacking churches, etc.
Shoot on sight anyone?
Our administration: “strongly condemns the MILITARY CRACKDOWN!” There’s no military crackdown! FUBO!
Got a call:
- A police colonel was killed at Ismailia rd.
- right now the security forces entered in the depth of Rabaa and they’re clearing out the bastards.

I hear automatic fire on near the bridge on Own TV.
I don’t see who’s firing, the police are holding on the bridge with gas canisters and rocks from citizens helping them. I don’t see muzzle flashes the goes with the auto fire.
Later...
In Rabaa, I see the animals allowed to walk away in a line of twos and threes wide with little kids around 8-10 years old.
No one is doing anything to them and they’re walking leisurely. No apparent threat. I hope the police got all the snipers who are certainly going to shoot the kids!
