Morsi Spurned Deals, Seeing Military as Tamed
EXCERPTS
His top foreign policy adviser, Essam el-Haddad, then left the room to call the United States ambassador, Anne W. Patterson, to say that Mr. Morsi refused. When he returned, he said he had spoken to Susan E. Rice, the national security adviser, and that the military takeover was about to begin, senior aides said.
Mother just told us that we will stop playing in one hour, an aide texted an associate, playing on a sarcastic Egyptian expression for the countrys Western patron, Mother America.
(snip)
Mr. Morsis advisers had meetings with Ms. Patterson and her deputy as well as a phone call with Ms. Rice, the national security adviser. Mr. Morsis advisers argued that ousting the president would be a long term disaster for Egypt and the Arab world because people would lose faith in democracy. They said it would set off an explosion in the streets that they could not control.
And they argued that the United States was implicated: Nobody who knows Egypt is going to believe a coup could go forward without a green light from the Americans.
Well I see Elbabardi is IN now. WAtched a video interview with him after Mubarak fell...he is a Universalist with that a more modern Egypt..which it needs. ..he also believed ‘then’.. it must be a year for elections to give the “unknowns” a chance to organize etc. in order to run.
Also believed the Army as a C0-partner with the Government....of course he would say that as most know the Army owns and holds a grand amount of land, businesses, industry etc..like 30% of Egypts economy.. which is why the Army wants stability in the country...so it doesn’t loose too much on their investments.
I know where he stands on Nuclear and with Iran...and he will “communicate” with Iran no doubt...but will see how he does...
For now he is better than Morsi..better than a vacum some other mangy characters could fill up.
Howdy!
I’ll try to read what I missed and give you what’s circulating in Egypt and thank you for your fantastic coverage.

Egypts presidency spokesman Ahmad al-Muslimani said negotiations were underway with the Muslim Brotherhood, adding that the Islamist group can take part in new elections.
The military ousted elected Islamist President Mohammad Mursi on Wednesday, sparking widespread protests among his Brotherhood followers. The military says it has a political roadmap to guide the country to new elections, but has yet to set a date.
We extend our hand to everyone, everyone is a part of this nation, the spokesman told reporters. The Muslim Brotherhood has plenty of opportunities to run for all elections including the coming presidential elections or the ones to follow.
Meanwhile, Muslimani said liberal leader Mohamed ElBaradei has not been officially appointed prime minister, after several official sources said the former U.N. nuclear watchdog chief had been named Prime Minister.
Interim president Adly Mansour met today with Dr. ElBaradei but so far there has been no official appointment, presidential advisor Ahmed al-Muslimani told reporters.
He added, however, that ElBaradei was the logical choice among a list of names being considered in the wake the militarys ouster on Wednesday of Islamist president Mohamed Mursi.
