Well I can say this no Officer or NCO after Basic training would expect any working Soldier to refer to them as Commander Sgt First Class! They know your busy and have no need for any member to bow to the title they have achieved! If I as a working member of the USAF had to address 5 officers and 6 NCOs by rank and title it would take 20 mins! That’s why Sirs is fine and they know you related respect!
If you wany to make it an issue call some General and ask the cat!
Only where 'tis folly to be wise, my friend. Apparently your correction is not going to be humbly accepted, which would speak to having honorably served.
"To each his suff'rings: all are men,
Condemn'd alike to groan,
The tender for another's pain;
Th' unfeeling for his own.
Yet ah! why should they know their fate?
Since sorrow never comes too late,
And happiness too swiftly flies.
Thought would destroy their paradise.
No more; where ignorance is bliss,
'Tis folly to be wise."
(Thomas Gray, "Ode on a Distant Prospect of Eton College")

What is the proper way to address a Command Sergeant Major?
The correct way to address a Command Sergeant Major named Mr. Jones is “Command Sergeant Major Jones”, or written as CSM Jones. In formal situations, a Command Sergeant Major should always be addressed by their full rank.
So, Uncle Jorge should be addressed in person as Command Sergeant Major Mesa, or written as CSM Mesa, just as we’ve said. Thanks for your vigilance.
