Fred had an article on criminal cases a decade or so ago. I quoted his defense attorney friend a lot. His friend said that you want to avoid, at all costs, ending up a defendent in criminal court because whether or not you are found guilty or innocent has nothing whatsoever to do with your guilt or innocence.
I think the prosecutor and judge in this case believed it and didn’t realize that you can’t get away with that when the case is tried in a fishbowl.
