I am a big supporter of law enforcement officers. There are some bad ones, but for the most part they are trying very hard to make our world a better, safer place. Generally, they receive extensive training in how to deal with stressful, uncertain situations, confrontations and conflict. Many LEO’s go through careers extending decades without ever even drawing their gun despite the fact that they regularly investigate suspicious persons and suspicious circumstances in dark, dangerous places. Their training and experience makes all the difference in the world.

I have to interject and say that, having spent twenty years on a major US police force, my experience with my fellow officers is that they were marginally trained and typically did not follow what training they did have when the SHTF.

I know, and am friends with, many civilians who are better trained and who I trust more with a firearm.

You might want to try being a bigger supporter of self reliance. There's a very good possibility you'll live longer.
