RE: the Tea Party movement.

Hell, we lost faith in the Rockefeller internationalist Republicans long ago and at the start of the modern conservative movement; that is why we were for Goldwater in 1964.

.. and the Republican Party movers and shakers had come to the attitude by 1964 that they still have today; to wit, the enemy (the modern conservative movement, today the Tea Party movement) had to be destroyed as members of the human race.

As for two parties.. they were little more than Tweedledum and Tweedledee in those days also.

William, you sound as old and creaky as me. Yes, I remember those days; I cried the night Goldwater lost. My husband and I were so innocent and naive, we didn't have a term for "Rino" in those days. The main ones that stabbed Goldwater in the back, over and over, were Rockefeller, William Scranton, Gov. of Pennsylvania, and George Romney, Gov. of Michigan. Nobody talks about this last one, but Mitt definitely inherited his liberalism.
